The Tria Turris, Festival of street artists in the Middle Ages, organized by the Terzieri Association of Chiusi, is divided into three intense days, usually the last weekend of June, on the occasion of the feast of the Patron Saint Mustiola.

In the splendid setting of the historic center of Chiusi, jesters, acrobats, stilt walkers, magicians, musicians, theater companies, fire-breathers, knights, flag-wavers and drummers alternate, who with their shows will accompany the visitor in an incessant whirlwind of itinerant events, along an unforgettable journey through the stories of the past. Battles, tournaments, artisans of yesteryear, falconers and a great historical procession along the alleys of the town, up to the Palio delle Torri, for over thirty years scheduled on the last Sunday of June, where tension and spectacularity come together in a single great event.

To top it all off, the three historic Taverne dei Terzieri with their traditional dishes, meat cooked in the characteristic “Foconi”, the typical Chiusi game specialties of our lake and the famous handmade Pici as the Chiusi tradition dictates.

We are around the middle of the 1300s. The free city of Chiusi, a land that had always been disputed between the Guelphs of Perugia and the Sienese Ghibellines, finally minted its own currency; stronger than the plagues, famines and continuous wars that for years have decimated the population of what is the most strategic port city on the Clanis valley.

During the celebrations of Santa Mustiola, martyred many centuries earlier, the Tre Terzieri, the three factions into which the town was divided, challenge each other at the Palio delle Torri, to obtain the keys of the city and absolute power over the other two, as well as the burden and honor of defending the Saint. Dances and celebrations, propitiatory banquets, sword tournaments, musicians, jugglers, merchants, flag-wavers, archers, armigers, nobles, ladies and knights, all the people of the Free City of Chiusi are preparing for the Tria Turris.
