“Maggiolata Lucignanese”, a popular festival now in its 85th edition that takes place every year on the last two Sundays of May. A special opportunity to get to know and appreciate the beauty of the place, a land of enchantment and magical atmospheres and at the same time to attend an event of rare beauty. On the days of the festival, the streets of the town, the narrow and characteristic alleys, the balconies and the arches that make this place one of the most popular places in Italy are all covered with floral arrangements.
And the festival, in its skilful unfolding, has very precise connotations, in which the dominant role is exercised by the strong reference to celebratory aspects of the collective memory of Lucignano: the parade of allegorical floats, completely flowered, with the participation of musical bands and folklore groups, from all over Italy and even from abroad, which runs along the entire ring of the streets of the town; the historical procession that precedes and announces the beginning of the festival; the same division of the municipal territory into districts that joyfully compete for the prize for the construction of the most beautiful float; The best Tuscan and Chianina cuisine will be presented.
There will be specific moments dedicated to hospitality within the “Origins” container for the entire duration of the event. A room will be made available for them where the knowledge of traditions will be promoted and with our folk group of Lucignano they will be taught the typical traditional dances. They will be taken on a visit to the Maggiolata shipyards where they will be explained how the floats are built and how the flowers are placed.

How to get there
From the NORTH Take the A1 motorway, exit at Monte San Savino, follow the signs for Foiano, go through Marciano della Chiana and continue following the signs for Lucignano. From the SOUTH Take the A1 motorway, exit at Valdichiana/Bettolle/Sinalunga and follow the direction of Siena, continue on the SS 327 then RA6, exit in the direction of Siena/Florence/Grosseto, turn onto the Siena-Bettolle junction, exit at Sinalunga and turn onto the SP 11, continue towards Lucignano.
