The Astor Piazzolla Festival “Soy la raiz!” celebrates the Argentine tango master and composer with maternal origins from the hamlet of Massa Sassorosso, in the municipality of Villa Collemandina. Symbol of the Garfagnana emigration to Mar del Plata (Argentina), the Festival will be divided into several initiatives during the months of June, July and August within the municipal territory. There will be concerts, conferences, museum spaces and theatrical performances focused on the importance of the connection to the territory and on the attractiveness towards interested parties from all over the world. In particular: SOUND GLIMPSES – fraz. Corfino – trumpet and piano duo concert with the participation of Maestros Francesco Tamiati (First Trumpet of the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan) and Andrea Tofanelli (internationally renowned trumpeter); ASTOR, IT’S JAZZ TIME– fraz. Corfino – sax and percussion ensemble concert of the Giovani Musicisti Ossolani musical association; ARMONIE DI PACE – fraz. Massa Sassorosso – July and August – string quartet concert; DIALETTO PER DILETTO– fraz. Massa Sassorosso – month of July – theatrical show by the Compagnia dell’Aschera, for the valorisation of the traditions and language of the territory; MUSICA DAL MONDO– Villa Collemandina capital – month of August – brass quintet concert Diffusion Brass Quintet; EMIGRATION FROM THE MUNICIPALITY OF VILLA COLLEMANDINA – Villa Collemandina capoluogo e fraz. Corfino – month of August – conference on emigration between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the following century and conference on the return of emigrants: repopulation dynamics; THE BAND, SOUNDS FROM TRADITION (Festival Astor Piazzolla SOY LA RAIZ) – Villa Collemandina capoluogo e fraz. Corfino – month of August – concert of the two musical bands present in our municipal area; RADICI: TRA IMMAGINI E PAROLE (Festival Astor Piazzolla SOY LA RAIZ) – municipal territory – summer – exhibitions, research, publications to rediscover the historical/demographic memory of the territory.
