The Concerto delle Radici in San Pellegrino in Alpe will be a concert of classical music – with some arias by Giacomo Puccini, a composer of Lucca origins whose 2024 anniversary marks the centenary of his death – in collaboration with the Associazione Musica Arte e Cultura and the ASD of Chiozza, which will take place on August 1st in the hamlet of San Pellegrino in Alpe for the Changing of the Cross, the centuries-old celebration of Saints Pellegrino and Bianco in which the Cross positioned the previous year at the end of the “pier” is replaced , and which sees a strong participation of emigrants who have returned to their places of origin for the occasion, bringing with them upon their return a wooden notch of the old cross. During the event, for the twentieth anniversary of the Bank of Identity and Memory of Garfagnana, the volume “Castiglione and the Walled City: manual for a guided tour” and other publications by local history experts will also be presented. Roots workshops will be organized and the emigrants present – or their descendants – will be rewarded with a ceremony organized by the Mayor.
