The experience
It is the Tuscany of cowboys and herds raised in the wild, but also of the porcupine and shy roe deer, the fox, the sea and the Mediterranean scrub that stuns with scents and colors. It is the Maremma Regional Park, the 9 thousand hectare green oasis in the heart of southern Tuscany.
The protagonists of the landscape are the Uccellina mountains, a green coastal ridge dotted with the romantic remains of old watchtowers and a Cistercian abbey. At their feet extend the Tyrrhenian Sea, with rocky beaches and coasts and the plain of the mouths of the Ombrone.
The Park extends for 25 kilometers on the stretch of coast between Principina a Mare and Talamone, in the municipalities of Grosseto, Magliano in Toscana and Orbetello. It is a succession of hills that descend towards the sea with sandy beaches and cliffs, surrounded by marshes, pine forests, cultivated fields and pastures. Among the intense scents of aromatic herbs, colorful berries and animal calls, the Park welcomes the visitor showing its sweet but also wild side.
A contrast of elements that awakens and frees the pleasure of feeling in a rediscovered paradise.
The Park is rich in diverse and evocative landscapes: the coast with its long sandy beaches, the ridge of the green Uccellina Mountains, which reach 471 meters of Poggio Leggi, the pine forest of Marina di Alberese, the mouth of the Ombrone river and the Trappola Marshes, where the Maremma cattle live in the wild.
The Park can be visited on foot, following the network of paths for trekking and Nordic Walking, but also by bike, on horseback, in a carriage, by canoe and even riding a donkey, an excursion designed specifically for children.
